My name is Kalia Douglas-Micallef, and I am the founder of Anti-Ableism. I was born with profound hearing loss, and wear hearing aids in both ears. My mission is to spread awareness about ableism and audism through various creative formats, including fiction and non-fiction writing, educational films based on documenting the lived realities of folks with disabilities, fictional animated children’s series, and workshops featuring conducted research in the form of infographics and data visualization from a multi-sensory design standpoint, as well as barrier free anti ableist strategies towards institutional success and equity. My goal is to raise the stakes for people like myself, and eliminate the barriers that my community faces in society.
